Taltirelin is a synthetic analogue of thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH) developed primarily for neurological research and treatment of spinocerebellar disorders. Unlike many research peptides, taltirelin has been evaluated in controlled human clinical studies.
Taltirelin is a centrally active TRH analogue designed to produce longer-lasting thyrotropic and neuroactive effects than native TRH. It has been studied particularly in spinocerebellar degeneration and related neurological conditions.
A 2025 randomized clinical study involving 149 patients with spinocerebellar degeneration found a statistically significant improvement in the primary K-SARA ataxia score after 24 weeks of taltirelin treatment compared with control.
How Does It Work?
Taltirelin acts primarily through TRH-related signaling in the central nervous system. Its longer duration of action compared with native TRH allows investigation of TRH-mediated neurological pathways without requiring continuous exposure.
